Pub and restaurant in Blackpool

The "The Manchester" in Blackpool, England, is a lively pub and restaurant that has established itself as a staple of the city's famous promenade. It is part of the Great UK Pubs chain and is strategically located between the South and Central Piers, making it an ideal destination for a variety of guests – from families to sports fans and larger groups such as bachelor and bachelorette parties. The pub is known for its versatility: during the day, it offers a relaxed atmosphere with good food, while in the evening it transforms into a vibrant party location with live sports broadcasts and DJs keeping the energy high late into the night.

Lively pub with live sports

The interior of "The Manchester" is divided into two levels, each offering different experiences. The ground floor features a sports bar atmosphere with large HD screens broadcasting football, rugby, or horse racing – a paradise for sports enthusiasts. The upper level, known as the "Family Bar," is brighter and more family-friendly, with a fantastic view of the promenade and the sea, especially during the famous Blackpool Illuminations. There is a free soft play area for children under five, as well as small play options that make the stay enjoyable for families. The outdoor area complements the offering with seating that provides views of the coastline, making it a popular meeting spot, especially in the summer months.

The menu is typical of a British pub, focusing on hearty, uncomplicated dishes that aim to satisfy and please. The Southern Fried Chicken Wrap is particularly popular, delighting many guests with its crispy shell and spicy filling – a perfect dish to fuel up for an evening of sports or dancing. The Classic Burger is also a hit, juicy and generously topped, making it a dependable favorite for meat lovers. For dessert, the Chocolate Fudge Cake is often highlighted, a rich, chocolatey treat that sweetens the end of a visit with its warm, sticky consistency. The drinks selection is equally extensive, featuring a variety of draft beers, including popular British brands, as well as a solid cocktail menu that enhances the party spirit.

Service at "The Manchester" is often described as friendly and efficient, with staff committed to providing a good experience even during busy times, such as major sporting events or peak season. However, on particularly busy days, there can be waiting times, and the noise level increases, which may be a slight downside for some guests. The option to order via the MiXR app and collect points is appreciated by many and streamlines the process. The pub is also wheelchair accessible, with an elevator to the upper floor, and offers amenities such as bottle warmers for families with young children.

Visitor opinions are predominantly positive, with praise often directed at the food, the view, and the lively atmosphere. There are occasional critiques regarding cleanliness on hectic days or the tightness when the pub is full – especially on weekends when the party scene is in full swing. Nevertheless, "The Manchester" remains a place that perfectly fulfills its role as a social hub. It accommodates private celebrations at no extra cost and attracts guests with regular promotions like St. Patrick’s Day specials, where guests are welcomed with a free drink.

Decent enough Blackpool boozer on the seafront. Big venue with multiple live-sports screens, pool, and music. Pints on the more expensive side compared to the other pubs in Blackpool. Looking at around £5/pint. Guinness, Cruzcampo, Carling all available on tap. Downside being drinks served in a plastic cup inside. Better and cheaper pints served in glasses elsewhere. Plenty of tables spare and clean. Staff friendly enough. Was fairly quiet when I visited. Have heard it is a very popular pub for away fans visiting Blackpool FC.

Stopped for a pint with my wife today Sunday 10th November, it was very clean and fresh pleasant family atmosphere with families having food and drink etc and was able to watch the football on one of the tvs on the wall behind my wife, so we'll thought out and a nice cool pint can't ask for much more

The music was unbelievably loud even at 6pm. So loud that the bar staff had ear plugs in which caused problems when ordering drinks. Had to sit outside to avoid the noise.

Went upstairs for food, typical pub menu. Order at the bar. Great place if you have kids. Lot's of screens for footie. Smells a bit fusty. Food was ok. Personally, I would try somewhere before going back.
